“The Poet”
It is sad to report the loss of a friend who was so devoted to Perth Amboy. Dioris Louis Arlequin, “the poet,” as he liked to be called, passed away at Raritan Bay Health Center last week. Louis was proud of his naval service and loved Perth Amboy. Much of his poetry had to do with real characters who lived in Perth Amboy and that if linked in a chain would tell a story about this city, the city Louis and I came to know as kids. We were boys once who walked the streets daily and saw those personalities Louis talked about in print. I am going to miss my friend a lot.

I am a twice combat wounded Marine Corps (that’s pronounced “core” Mr. Obama) Veteran of the Vietnam War. My second wound was nearly fatal from mortar fragments shattering my left shoulder blade and crushing three ribs. The hole blasted was large enough to put a football into my chest. I will carry that massive scar and the mortar fragments in my chest to my grave.
During the infamous Tet Offensive of 1968, I was a 19 year old Marine Pfc. (Private First Class) one of 2,500 Marines sent to liberate the ancient Imperial City of Hue, held by 11,000 North Vietnamese trained, disciplined, combat hardened troops, plus an unknown number of Vietcong. Of the 27 Marines in my platoon, 11 were killed and the rest of us suffered 2, 3, and 4 wounds. I lasted 9 days before I was air lifted.
On day 12, Valentine’s Day, there was not even one of my platoon left. Not a one!! All gone. All gave some, some gave all.
On February 6, 1968, Frank Thomas, Alan McDonald, and I struck the enemies flag flying in the courtyard of the Provincial Capital Building which was the headquarters for all the NVA (North Vietnamese Army) in Hue. The enemy fire was intense from soldiers dug in around the courtyard wall. We raised the stars and stripes! This action made the front page of every newspaper in the free world. It can be viewed in at least 6 different documentaries.
I have been honored to have been elected State Commander of the Disabled American Veterans 1993-1994, State Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart 1995-1996,2014, 2015, 2016, and am now the National Executive Committee of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. I love my country and have spent my life serving other veterans.
I was not only appalled but sickened to read how Congressmen Frank Pallone, Democratic candidate for Governor Phil Murphy, and Perth Amboy Mayor Wilda Diaz disgracefully use Memorial Day weekend to verbally attack our President and turn it into a campaign event. Absolutely despicable!!!
At a meeting sponsored by DAV Chapter 29 of Tinton Falls, held at a nursing home billed as a day to meet your Congressman. I asked about Andrew Tamarossi, a Marine Sergeant who made a wrong turn and accidently crossed the border into Mexico. He was physically beaten, chained to a wall, and held in inhumane conditions. President Obama, Secretary of State Kerry and Congress did nothing! Congressman Pallone didn’t even know who Tamarossi was. His Aide, a Marine veteran died.

Dead Men Don’t Talk
U.S. Congressman Steve Scalise (R- Louisiana) was shot and wounded at a Congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, VA. and five others were wounded, too. The shooter, James T. Hodgkinson age 66 from Belleville, Ill. used a rifle on them and died at the hospital (dead men don’t talk). Here’s the wacky part about this the congressman: he has a YouTube channel and was talking about human trafficking and how it’s being used for sex crimes and more. He was supporting a bill in congress H.R. 436 by the 115th January 11, 2017 congress to enforce human trafficking laws in America. There’s more to this: a Republican Congresswoman name Claudia Tenney from Upstate NY got an e-mail saying: “One down and 266 to go!” This came from a newspaper report. It’s just so odd when President Trump got into office and there have been many arrests from those doing human trafficking for illegal activity. What is the real deal about this shooting? The shooter was a Bernie Sanders supporter?
This is crazy and like a movie from Hollywood. In fact, consider this yourself – do your homework. Was it brainwashing or a setup? I know what you are thinking – the Russians planned this.
