PERTH AMBOY – The Board of Directors of Perth Amboy’s Business Improvement District (BID) have selected Junel Hutchinson to serve as the organization’s Manager. Director Jorge Cruz chaired the BID’s Selection Committee, which reviewed applications from candidates who were seeking the leadership position. The Selection Committee recommended appointing Ms. Hutchinson, and during a recent meeting the BID’s Board unanimously voted in the new BID Manager.

Mayor Wilda Diaz, who serves on the BID Board, supported the Directors’ selection of Ms. Hutchinson, who has lived in Perth Amboy for close to three decades. Ms. Hutchinson will also function as the City’s Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) Coordinator, and she will immediately begin both of her new responsibilities.

Ms. Hutchinson is taking over responsibilities for the BID and UEZ that had been ably been managed by Roxana Troche, who is retiring. Ms. Troche was the BID’s Executive Director and UEZ Coordinator for more than eight years. For over 27 years, she also held a range of administrative and managerial positions in city government that involved serving residents, businesses and the community at large.

In announcing Ms. Hutchinson’s selection, Mayor Diaz said, “Junel has served our community as a responsible director on the BID’s board, active participant in service clubs, and a leader of local nonprofit organizations. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated professional who possesses a positive personality and is known as a flexible, smart and open-minded manager.”

Ms. Hutchinson’s responsibilities will include managing the BID’s day-to-day operations as well as providing overall administration and financial management.

BID Chairman Barry Rosengarten welcomed Ms. Hutchinson by saying, “Junel helped our City as a highly motivated, hardworking, innovative and engaged director on the BID board. We are fortunate to have an incoming Manager who has exceptional abilities, a solid understanding of the BID’s role and positive relationships with leaders in Perth Amboy, across Middlesex County and beyond.”

Ms. Hutchinson joins the BID from her position as Director of Admissions & Marketing and Assistant Administrator of the Alameda Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Hutchinson joined the former Perth Amboy Nursing Home as Director of Admissions. Her administrative skills flourished over the next few years, and she was promoted to Assistant Administrator at former AristaCare at Alameda Center.

Previously, Ms. Hutchinson earned an Associates in Business Administration from Philip Junior College. She resides in Perth Amboy, and her daughter, I-Asia, attends the Nursing School at Universal Training Institute, which is also in the City.
