Code Enforcement Agent Resigns

PERTH AMBOY – Lance Nelson who has been an employee of the City of Perth Amboy since 1998 has been accused of receiving social security benefits of a deceased great aunt who he shared a joint banking account with. The social security administration was not aware of her death until recently. Those benefits were transferred to a joint account held by the great aunt and Nelson. Around $52,000 was transferred to the joint account to Nelson’s personal account, officials said.

Office of Vital Statistics Hours Extended

PERTH AMBOY – Mayor Wilda Diaz is pleased to announce that effective Thursday, July 13th, the Office of Vital Statistics has extended its usual Thursday operating hours. The Office of Vital Statistics, located at the Alexander F. Jankowski Community Center at 1 Olive Street, is open from 9:00AM to 5:00PM from Monday-Friday and will now be open from 9:00AM to 8:00PM every Thursday.

The Office of Vital Statistics is tasked with keeping records of all Births, Marriages, Civil Unions, Domestic Partnerships, and Deaths occurring in the City of Perth Amboy. In addition, they make corrections to Vital Records and are responsible for the licensing of food establishments.  For the current fees for any of the services rendered by the Vital Statistics Office or more information, please contact the Office directly at (732) 826-0549.
