It would be hard pressed to find someone as capable, personable and hardworking as Roxana Troche. We congratulate her as she retires to go and enjoy her grandchildren.

At some of the Perth Amboy Council Meetings, some speakers have been harsh in criticism of the UEZ/BID, even going as far as questioning Ms. Troche’s salary.

When budgets are presented for different departments, all the items that it takes which includes salaries, staff and supplies, etc. So, the number that is presented is not just for one person.

I have to hand it to her. I don’t know how Roxana was able to keep her cool when certain individuals were making erroneous statements.

I first was met Ms. Troche when she was working with Bob McCoy (who has retired more than 7 years ago) and who was instrumental in getting a lot of businesses into the City. After McCoy retired, a lot of the work was taken over by Ms. Troche on top of what she was already doing.

When you would go into Roxana’s  office, there would be trays of organized papers dealing with events that had just passed or were upcoming. Forget about the cabinets, which also had tons of literature to help both new and existing businesses.

Ms. Troche demeanor has always been COOL, CALM AND COLLECTED. Some people have complained that when the BID has events, they have been left out and only a few are contacted. A lot of these events were advertised in the paper, Constant Contact, the BID website and also flyers are posted in different spots downtown under inside a glass enclosure.

I, myself am not on Facebook, but you don’t have to have a Facebook account to look at pages where people have information open to the general public.

It’s not surprising that Junel Hutchinson will now be an integral part of the BID. She possesses that same calmness and everything will be fine attitude as Roxana. Junel will not let anyone ruffle her feathers.

Hopefully, Roxana will come back to visit Perth Amboy at least once a year with her family to attend one of the events that became successful under her tutelage. We wish her and her husband, Eugene a long, healthy and happy retirement. Enjoy your children and grandchildren and a well-deserved retirement. C.M.
