Mayor Wilda Diaz Holds Collection Drive for Hurricane Harvey Victims

— CALL TO ACTION FOR TEXAS —

PERTH AMBOY, NJ — Mayor Wilda Diaz is placing a CALL TO ACTION to our local residents and surrounding communities to gather goods to donate to families in Houston, Texas due to the recent storm devastation.

“We were in a similar place just 5 years ago when Superstorm Sandy ravaged New Jersey and still today some families are recovering from their loss,” said Mayor Wilda Diaz. “Because of this, we know firsthand the difficulties our fellow Texan brothers and sisters are facing, even though the damage doesn’t compare.  So we’ve gathered as a community to pray and collect donations for these families, as many had extended to us in our time of need.”

The City of Perth Amboy will be hosting a CALL TO ACTION DRIVE FOR HARVEY RELIEF at the Alexander F. Jankowski Community Center at 1 Olive Street, Perth Amboy, NJ on the following dates:

  • Friday, September 1st                  9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, September 2nd           9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Tuesday, September 5th             9 a.m. – 7 p.m.

We will be collecting the following personal and home care (ONLY NEW/UNUSED) items:

Blankets Sheets/Bedding Towels/Wash Clothes Toothbrushes/Paste
Shampoo/Conditioner Socks (All Ages) Soap/Body Wash Q-Tips
Baby Wipes Senior/Children Diapers Books School Supplies
Razors/Shaving Cream Hand Sanitizer Feminine Hygiene Items Dental Floss
Deodorant Batteries Phone Chargers Hair/Nails Items
First Aid Kits Pet Food Mouth Wash Lotion

Officials as working with a number of local organizations and partnering with businesses to prepare the drive and maximize giving. The items will be directly transported to Texas after the drive is held.
