SAYREVILLE – On Monday, September 11, 2017, Bridges of Peace, a Sayreville based nonprofit charity, along with the residents of Sayreville will begin a two-week drive for the victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas.  A 53-foot tractor-trailer and driver have been secured to bring the goods to the area outside of Houston to assist those people who so desperately need our help.  There will be several public donation drop off points throughout the town listed as follows:

• The trailer will be at 277 Johnson Lane in Parlin on the grassy area behind Emma L. Arleth School and will receive donations 4 to 8 pm throughout September 23

* All Sayreville public schools will be also collecting items only through their students.*

The donated items will be shipped to the Food Bank in San Antonio who are serving the people directly affected in the Houston area. The items that will be collected are:

• Baby items (i.e. diapers, formula, wipes, new clothing, food [no glass, please])

• Personal hygiene products (i.e. toothpaste, body wash, deodorant, shampoo, etc)

• First aid supplies (i.e. band aids, Tylenol, Neosporin, etc)

• Water

• Nonperishable Food (canned and boxed)

• New towels, wash clothes, linens and blankets

• New clothing

Monetary donations can be made to Bridges of Peace at or by check and are fully tax deductible.  Money donated to this will help pay for fuel to transport the items to Texas.  Any excess will be donated to local food banks in that area. The final day of this drive will be Sept. 23, 2017.  We will have an event at Buddies Banquet Hall at 277 Johnson Lane in Parlin from 2 to 6 pm to celebrate our success!  It will include a “Taste of the Town”, DJ and other musical surprises along with raffles.  Donations at the door will be $10 for adults, $5 for children under 9 and under 2 is free.  On behalf of Bridges of Peace, we would like to thank you in advance for your support in any way in helping those who so urgently need it.  Once again, we have the opportunity to show we are “Sayreville Strong”!  Thank you for your consideration.
