The latest new Marvel movie: Thor Ragnarok is an epic ride. Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is searching for his father, Odin (Anthony Hopkins). After Thor discovers that Loki (Tim Hiddleston) secretly has been taking his place as King of Asgard, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) locates Odin and transports Loki and Thor to where he is. But a new threat is looming. Hela (Cate Blanchett), the Goddess of Death, is Odin’s first born and is now unleashed. She wants to rule or destroy Asgard. She will stand at nothing to conquer Asgard and the nine realms and everything else that stands in her way. She destroys Thor’s all-powerful enchanted hammer.

Thor is sent to the Planet Sakaar which is ruled by the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum). The only way off Sakaar is to defeat his grand champion, the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and the contest of Champions is Avenger versus Avenger. Thor takes on the all-powerful Hulk in a great fight as the two Avengers eventually come back together and make a deal with Loki and a disgraced Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) who just wants to forget her past but eventually all three Heroes side together and put everything aside to create a revolution and overthrow The Grandmaster and make their way back to Asgard. Hela is about to make her final move. The heroes are trying to prevent Ragnarok (the end of all things) but it may be their only chance for survival.

This new Marvel movie has a lot of 70s vive to it. The film even uses music from Led Zeppelin. You really feel like you’re on another world. The special effects and painted backgrounds look like something you’ve never seen before. There are moments of great drama as well as great comedy and it is action packed front to back. There’s smaller stories between Thor Hulk and Loki.

Skurge the Executioner (Karl Urban) is barely recognizable from any of the other charters he played.

This is probably one of the best of the Thor movies made to date. It’s big bright colors help give deep emotional characters. The movie is long, but moves very quickly. It’s a lot to take in, so you may have to see it twice, so you can catch everything.

Take the kids with no problem. There’s plenty to interest anyone. You could see this movie without seeing the other ones. The story is simple. Although a sequel, it’s sort of its own movie onto itself. Thor Ragnarok is worth seeing. It rocks.
