HMS Host Foundation Celebrates Thanksgiving with $10,000 Grant to Renovation Funds

Will Support Perth Amboy in Season of Giving

Press Release 11/27/17

PERTH AMBOY — HMSHost Foundation is fighting poverty in northern New Jersey by supporting Renovation House, a nonprofit that offers long-term residential rehabilitation treatment for men struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. HMSHost Foundation presented a $10,000 grant to Renovation House during its annual Thanksgiving dinner. The HMSHost team from the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway also donated 30 turkeys, and volunteered to help Renovation House serve approximately 1,700 Thanksgiving meals to people in need.

“HMSHost Foundation is thrilled to support the Perth Amboy community with this grant to Renovation House,” said HMSHost Foundation President Paul Mamalian. “Renovation House is an important community leader in northern New Jersey and this grant represents HMSHost Foundation’s commitment to our mission to combat the cycle of poverty at the local level.”

Renovation House has served Thanksgiving dinner to the Perth Amboy community for 11 years. HMSHost associates have been a part of this tradition for the last five years by donating turkeys and volunteering to serve meals. HMSHost Foundation made its first grant to Renovation House in 2016.

“We are very excited to have HMSHost volunteer with us again this Thanksgiving and are so thankful for the donation and hard work of their team,” said Renovation House Reverend Paul Sears. “Renovation House operates entirely on the basis of donations and HMSHost’s ongoing contributions are a significant part of Renovation House being able to carry out its mission.”

HMSHost and Renovation House coordinate throughout the year on other community service efforts too. For example, HMSHost donates food to Renovation House from New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway restaurants. High-quality prepared food items get picked up from various service plazas twice every week and an average of 900 food items are donated monthly.
