Mikell’s Plot to perform

NJ Rock Band Will be at the World/US Amateur Team East Chess Tournament

PARSIPPANY – NJ Rock Band Mikell’s Plot will perform at the World/US Amateur Team East Chess Tournament. Lead Singer Michael O’Connor will participate in the chess tournament on Saturday February 17, at the Parsippany Hilton, 1 Hilton Court, Parsippany, NJ 07054. Mikell’s Plot will perform at 11 am – 12:15 pm during event registration. There is no charge for the audience.

Mikell’s Plot celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. So it is fitting that they headline this event whose theme this year is “Rock n Roll”. The band, led by Lead Vocalist Michael O’Connor, has continued to rock their way through venues on the East Coast since 1997.  In 2017 they closed the year with over 100 gigs across this region. The current Mikell’s Plot Band is: Michael O’Connor – Lead Vocals, Pete Mongiello – Lead Guitar, Andy Edick – Bass, Eddie “The Elf” Piotrowski – Drums, John Mulrenan – Keyboards, Doug DeRienzo “Max the Sax”, George Rivera – Rhythm Guitar.

Lead Singer Michael O’Connor has been an amateur chess player since his teen years.  Michael is a Class A Chess player who has a few Master Scalps under his belt.  He will be competing with his team Ferrero Forever in this tournament. Michaels team members (National Master Jim West, Expert Ronald Saylo & Joseph Salvatore) are honoring their friend Steve Ferrero who passed away in 2013.  Steve was a chess expert who competed on the amateur circuit.  Steve Ferrero was also the Editor in Chief of the Atlanta Chess News.
