The Y Helps Strengthen Community Bonds and Instill a Sense of Togetherness for All Involved

PERTH AMBOY – In a time where communities are more divided than ever, the RARITAN BAY AREA YMCA is a key resource to bridge gaps, bring people together and strengthen relationships among “Us,” including the youth, adults and seniors who contribute daily to the betterment of our community. Throughout the years the Y has been successful in achieving this goal.

The Y understands the importance of learning from one another and helping all of us to reach our fullest potential. Here in Perth Amboy, the Y aims to bring all together with one common ground this is why every year we solicit funds for the Annual Campaign. These funds make it possible to keep our promise to:

• Further our homeless prevention support and resources

• Develop more programs for special needs and the pre-school population

• Increase scholarships to keep kids safe in afterschool programs

• Provide free teen nights to Perth Amboy high school age students

• Continue to help more people take steps to prevent chronic disease, allowing them to live longer, healthier lives.

“We are thrilled with the way the Y has helped so many members in this deserving community,” said Sholonda Chipepo, VP of Organizational Development. “This is a true representation of how the RARITAN BAY AREA YMCA is working to solidify the “Us” that holds us together as a community.”

To celebrate the “Us” in communities across the U.S., the Y launched the second phase of the “For a better us.” campaign. Entitled “Us,” the campaign is designed to help everyone understand the programs and resources the Y provides around the country—including access to newcomer engagement programs; community outreach initiatives; access to safe places; mentorship and volunteer opportunities, and more.
