1/24/18 Council Meeting

PERTH AMBOY – Former Councilwoman Lisa Nanton questioned how appointments are made to the Redevelopment Agency. She referenced N.J.S.A. 40A:12A-1 et seq. Local Redevelopment and Housing Law.

Law Director Peter King responded, “The legislation is different. The State Law allows municipalities if they to follow the State Law if they want. You (Nanton) read a resolution.”

Councilman Fernando Gonzalez responded that he disagreed with King.

Council President Bill Petrick then questioned, “If there’s a dispute, where do we go?”

King responded, “To the Commissioners, or you can challenge it in court.”

Later in when the public was allowed to comment again, Resident Ken Balut suggested that the Council rehire Mr. Blunda. “Because she’s getting worse than Joe (Vas). Most of the PARA Members are tied to PARA.”
