Meet the Author: Scott M. Deitche

Press Release 1/22/18

Garden State Gangland

FORDS – Author Scott M. Deitche is originally from Fords!  His newest book is Garden State Gangland; The Rise of the Mob in New Jersey.  Meet him @ our Fords Branch on Saturday, February 10 @ 11:00 am.

New Jersey’s organized crime history has been one of the most colorful in the country, serving as the home of some of the most powerful, as well as below-the-radar, mobsters in the Country. And though overshadowed by the emphasis on New York City, the mob and New Jersey have, over the years, become synonymous, in both pop culture and in law enforcement. But for all the press that has been dedicated to the mob and New Jersey, for all the law enforcement activity against the mob, and for all the pop culture references, there has never truly been an examination of the rise of the mob in New Jersey from a historical perspective. Until now.

In Garden State Gangland, Scott M. Deitche sets the historical record straight by providing the first overall history of the mob in New Jersey, from the early turn of the century Black Hand gangs to the present, and looks at their influence not only in the Garden State, but across the country as a whole.

Scott is the author of 7 other books on organized crime, including Cigar City Mafia: A Complete History of the Tampa Underworld, The Silent Don: The World of Santo Trafficante Jr. and Cocktail Noir: From Gangsters and Gin Joints to Gumshoes and Gimlets. He has written dozens of articles on organized crime for local and national magazines and newspapers. Scott has been featured on The Discovery Channel, The History Channel, A&E, C-SPAN, Oxygen and both national and local news and radio shows. Scott currently lives in St. Petersburg, FL. with his family.  To learn more about Scott Deitche please see http://www.scottdeitche.com/
