Press Release 1/22/18
WOODBRIDGE TOWNSHIP – In this presentation, being held at the Woodbridge Main Library on Thursday, February 15 at 7:00 PM, Dr. Karen Gaffney will share a few key concepts from her new book, Dismantling the Racism Machine: A Manual and Toolbox. Her goal is to raise awareness about the false beliefs that perpetuate racism, especially the myths often taught to white people that need to be unlearned. There will also be plenty of time for discussion.
Dr. Karen Gaffney is Professor of English at Raritan Valley Community College, where she teaches Race in American Literature and Popular Culture. As a white anti-racist educator, she presents her work at conferences and in community workshops, as well as in her blog with resources Divided No Longer (available at www.dividednolonger.com). Her book, Dismantling the Racism Machine: A Manual and Toolbox, is an accessible and interdisciplinary introduction to race and racism with tools for action.
