Proceeds from Food Tour Support Engraving More Names on City’s Veterans Memorial

Proceeds from the tour will go to honor local men and women who’ve served in the military by engraving their names on the city’s Veterans’ War Memorial.

Food Tour Begins Under Perth Amboy Morning Glory Mural

The food tour begins at 86 Smith St., and attendees may sign in at the BID’s table by the large-scale “Morning Glory” mural.  The mural enhances the wall alongside a walkway that connects the city’s parking lot “C” at 103 Jefferson St. and Smith Street.

After signing in, guests may begin the food tour by walking along Smith Street. Or, people may board the free trolley to restaurants, which will bring them to eateries on the food tour. Each of the four trolley stops will have seating, and guests may relax, enjoy their food samples from nearby eateries and listen to live music.

The musicians are provided by the Rutgers Concert Bureau.

Mayor Caba Invites Everyone to Day of Food Sampling Downtown

“This tour will showcase the diversity of cuisines as well as the rich history that our Downtown Perth Amboy has to offer, said Mayor Helmin J. Caba.  ‘We invite you to rediscover some truly delicious local favorites and enjoy a beautiful blend of vibrant food, art and culture.”

For more details, visit the BID’s information pages on the city’s website, or contact the BID office at 732-442-6421.

“We have converted our annual Taste of Perth Amboy to an outdoor, walking tour to promote safety and direct promotion for our eateries,” said BID Chairman Barry Rosengarten. “Our hope is that you’ll discover your new favorite place to eat and visit– there is plenty to enjoy right here in Perth Amboy.”

The Perth Amboy Eats website is an initiative that created an opportunity for contactless ordering and menu options and to highlight restaurants and eateries in the Business Improvement District. The city’s Office of Economic and Community Development received funding from NJDCA’s Neighborhood Preservation Program to promote the ongoing recovery and revitalization of the city’s downtown business district in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis. The BID has invested an additional $10,000 into the program to support more food establishments in the BID area.
