JRF holds Informational Luncheon at Terrazza Restaurant to Supply Information About Applying for a $1 Million Grant for a Veteran’s Center in Perth Amboy

PERTH AMBOY – The JRF has long been committed to supporting the needs of veterans. Since 1996, JRF has provided financial assistance, housing assistance, case management, job training/placement and other social services to help veterans cope with the many challenges they are faced with as they reintegrate into civilian society.

This year, we are facing the opportunity of winning a $1M grant from the Veterans Administration to establish a Veterans Service Center, so that we can increase the number of veterans serviced throughout Middlesex and Essex counties, as well as deliver the above-mentioned assistance in as efficient, effective and accessible a manner as possible. Most importantly, it will lead to crating a centralized “hub” to connect our Veterans to essential services – in effect, serving our soldiers who typify the very definition of service. It is our experience that demonstrated community support is a vital factor in the awarding of funds.

Therefore, it is an understatement to say that we need your help to successfully show this support. On August, 12, 2012, JRF will partner with the G.I. GO Fund to host a “Stand Down for Homeless Veterans” event in Perth Amboy, where we will provide a range of services and assistance to approximately 500 homeless veterans.

Based out of Newark, G.I. GO is one of the region’s leading Veteran service organizations. Recently featured on ABC’s “Secret Millionaire”, along with numerous media outlets, G.I. GO is now taking their model to Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

If you wish to give a donation, in any amount at any time, to support the costs for food, supplies, security and public services that are essential to host the Stand Down by mailing a check payable to Jewish Renaissance Foundation, mailed to JRF at 149 Kearny St. Perth Amboy, NJ 08861, Attn: Kristi Zayas.

It is one of our great societal tragedies that thousands of men and women who went to battle for our liberties and freedoms now battle for their next meal or safe shelter. Be a hero for our heroes!
