PERTH AMBOY — At its regular December trustees meeting the Museums of Perth Amboy voted to give a sizable grant to the FSM.

Ferry Slip Museum
The money is to be used for clean-up and restoration after Super-storm Sandy. Just as the storm approached Mayor Wilda Diaz insisted that the valuable collections of the museum be removed for safekeeping.
Volunteers from the Ferry Slip and MOPA were able take these precious items away from the storm’s wrath. Later volunteers returned to salvage and clean the interior of the buildings. The structure of the Ferry Slip remains sound and the City will be replacing electrical and heating elements damaged by the salt water.
We hope the museum will be up and running in early February. ‘We were very pleased to be able to do our part and to fulfill our mission at MOPA’ said Tom Ward, MOPA’s current president. In the past MOPA has given grants to other historic sites in Perth Amboy and has been actively seeking major funds from the State to help preserve the Royal Governor’s Mansion.
