COMMUNITY VOICE: Misquote

I’m writing in reference to the article written about Perth Amboy High School Graduation.

I, Vanessa Fernandez, was misquoted and confused with another parents comments. I’m in no way shape or form in agreement with our High School graduation ceremony being held at 9 a.m. I feel as though this decision should have been handled differently. As a parent our opinion should matter. Not once during the school year was I asked any questions related to the changing of the graduation time. I do not comprehend how a decision can be made by one person when it affects so many.

In addition I have had the opportunity to speak to students, family members, faculty, alumni and community members about this and many issues have been raised. From parents having a hard time taking a day off, losing a day’s pay and in some cases even two days since McGinnis & Shull School graduations will not be held on the same day as the High School as it typically is, along with some Project Graduation concerns.

I am asking the editor to please correct my quote to show the public my true stance in this matter. Thank You.’
