
PERTH AMBOY – The bait shop had great week of fishing reports lots of pics and excitement with an assortment in local waters has everyone enjoying the fishingreports from the guys at Harbortown areas said weak fish and spots are hitting the worms bass and blues bunker. The crew off the pier by the shop are reporting schools of bunker doing there dance most times in snagging distance. Fluke in the 19 to 21’’ range have been a common catch for the local angler off the pier. Squid and spearing have been the bait of choice.
Beachside have been slamming the blues and bass on chunck bunker the action has not slowed down. It’s time to get out there and make it count as water temps rise, big bass move into deeper cooler waters due to the higher levels of oxygen. Cool water holds blues will be more active as the weather warms and more catches will take place,
“When I go fishing in this part of the striper run I tend to use bunker heads when going after the bass stripers tend to favor them blues tend to not to bother with them so the chances of a big bass are definitely in ones favor.”
Boaters have been doing well. Ed Hummel caught a 47’’ 60lb red drum while fluking the Keyport flats on 30 lb floro leader and 40 lb braid using American Pride xlg spearing.
Bob Woods of the Marry Ellen brought in a couple of beautiful fluke with the largest 25’’ great catch.
A special congrats goes to Delgado for his biggest catch to date a 38’’ 21lb striper “May you catch many more!”
