PERTH AMBOY – More than 200 volunteers from ForestersTM, the Jewish Renaissance Foundation, the City of Perth Amboy, organizers from KaBOOM! and residents of the local community will join forces on Saturday, Aug. 24 to build a new playground at Francis Street Park.
The playground build will also include a Foresters Family Fun Zone featuring arts & crafts, games and activities for families and children throughout the day. It serve more than 18,500 children and their families. The existing playground at Francis Street Park is nearly 20 years old and in need of replacement. The new playground’s design is based on drawings created by children who participated in a Design Day event in June.
Saturday, Aug. 24 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Foresters Family Fun Zone (arts & crafts, games & more for children and families), 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Kick off ceremony and volunteer deployment, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Best viewing of playground construction, 1p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Final construction phase and adjustments, 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Ribbon-cutting ceremony to dedicate new play area (Note: all times approximate) Francis Street Park, Francis & Ashley Sts.
