PERTH AMBOY – Many streets in the City were recently repaved. But, what the City wasn’t prepared for were the added handicapped spots.

New Brunswick Avenue was one of the streets where additional handicapped spots were added by the County. This was done to make the City more ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant.

During the 8/12/13 Caucus Meeting, Business Administrator Greg Fehrenbach said that the Police Department had attended a meeting with the County. The Police Department was supposed to be informed before the County proceeded with designating additional handicapped parking spots. The County neglected to do this.

Fehrenbach said the County Engineer stated that the City should look at alternative handicapped parking locations on side streets. Fehrenbach added, “We are looking to do this without cost to the City.”
