The Woodbridge High School Choir sings at the township’s 9-11 ceremony

Gurdwara Dashmesh Darbar perform a chant about peace.
At the Woodbridge 9-11 Ceremony, there were performances by the Woodbridge High School Choir under the direction of Elizabeth Armory. There was also a chant accompanied with music performed by the Gurdwara Dashmesh Darbar. Three young people performed the chant.
The Woodbridge Choir had a short period of time to practice but they sang in unison as if they had been together for years.
When they performed “God Bless America” and “Amazing Grace” their whole heart and soul came through. Their young melodic voices were a comfort to all those in attendance. It was a very moving performance.
Before the Guadwara Dashmesh Darbar performed, one of the young women spoke about peace being the focal point of the chant.
This is the second year in a row that I have attended the Woodbridge 9-11 Ceremony and was impressed with the performances of these young people.
I am sure as they mature, they will pass on their experiences of what it meant to be a part of this ceremony.
Although I was not in attendance at the Sayreville Memorial Ceremony, I viewed a number of families with young children and youth organizations in attendance while looking at various photos.
At the Perth Amboy Ceremony some adults brought their young children with them. Although these children were too young to understand what was going on, I could tell that it was important to their guardians that their children be there with them.
I am certain when these small children are older, their parents will instill in them the importance of why they were brought to this ceremony.
This is the only way we can keep the memory of 9-11 alive.
