President and Mrs. Carter join volunteers to build homes in New Jersey during Habitat for Humanity’s 30th annual Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project
UNION BEACH – Habitat for Humanity’s 30th annual Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project is coming to Union Beach, N.J., Oct. 10-12, to help build and repair 14 homes in partnership with low-income families. During the milestone event, President and Mrs. Carter will join nearly 150 volunteers on Saturday, Oct. 12, to help build or repair homes for families recovering from Superstorm Sandy.

Habitat for Humanity Monmouth County (HFHMC), an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity, seeks to eliminate sub- standard housing and help low- income families achieve the dream of homeownership. It works with people from all walks of life to develop communities by building and renovating houses so that there are decent houses in decent communities where people can live and raise their families. Since 1993, the dedicated volunteers of the Habitat for Humanity of Monmouth County have been building and repairing homes to provide decent, affordable housing to low income families.
HFHMC service area includes the following towns and municipalities: Aberdeen, Atlantic Highlands, Deal, Eatontown, Fair Haven, Hazlet Highlands, Holmdel, Keansburg, Keyport, Little Silver, Long Branch, Matawan, Middleton, Monmouth Beach, Ocean Township, Oceanport, Red Bank, Rumson, Sea Bright, Shrewsbury, Shrewsbury Township, Tinton Falls, Union Beach, West Long Branch and Cliffwood Beach.
HFHMC has assisted 65 local families in its history. Currently, there are 10 more projects in process. Those families include: 15 homeowners who have been served through new home construction, 10 families served through our Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative and 40 families served through Sandy Recovery Critical Home Repair Program. It is the goal of HFHMC to assist an additional 100 homeowners through the Sandy Recovery Critical Home Repair Program (CHRP) program in the coming year.
