I would like to make a correction or addition in your paper to a story about the HUBS 75th anniversary.
An article in last week’s edition of the Amboy Guardian omitted someone who was instrumental in the HUBS being able to have a 75th anniversary. My “cousin” Mike Pluckter was responsible for getting the organization into financial stability during the late 50’s and 60’s when the assets of the HUBS were at a very precarious low. He organized bus rides and ran raffles to generate income to keep the club going. Mike was able to get uniforms and jackets for the teams with his fund raising, I still have several old shirts and a jacket from that era when I played for a short time. These individuals contributed their time and efforts to make the HUBS the organization it is today. Without them, the Robbins Street home away from home club would not exist.

Editor’s Note: The HUBS Members interviewed were familiar with Mr. Plunkter but were not aware of the contributions that he made to the organization. They were not members at the time.
