Mayor Diaz Appoints New Assistant Administrator

PERTH AMBOY – Mayor Wilda Diaz announces the appointment of Jillian C. Barrick, as Assistant City Administrator beginning December 9th and her appointment today as Executive Director of the Perth Amboy Redevelopment Agency (PARA) at the November 12th board meeting.

“I am so pleased to appoint Ms. Barrick as As- sistant Administrator,” said Mayor Wilda Diaz. “She is a true professional who will work with me, my administrator and the City Council to best serve our residents and taxpayers. Her experience, knowledge and integrity will provide much value as we move forward to accomplish my future business goals and present-day corporate growth in Perth Amboy.”

Ms. Jillian Barrick has been appointed to replace Helga van Eckert who resigned approximately 21 months ago from the position of the Agency’s Executive Director and the head of the Office of Economic and Community Development. In her capacity as Assistant Administrator, Ms. Barrick will take the responsibilities held by Ms. Van Eckert. Business Administrator, Gregory Fehrenbach has been serving in that capacity since Ms. Van Eckert’s departure. Ms. Barrick will also work under Mayor Wilda Diaz and Mr. Fehrenbach with the expectation that she will replace Mr. Fehrenbach during 2014. Her annual salary will be $127,500 as Assistant Administrator, overseeing the Office of Economic Community Development and PARA Executive Director.

About Jillian C. Barrick: Ms. Barrick currently serves as the City Administrator in the City of East Orange, Essex County for the past 3.5 years. Prior to that appointment, she served as Senior Managing Consultant with Public Financial Management, Strategic Consulting Practice for the prior 7 years. She possesses a B.S. degree from Georgia Institute of Technology in Architecture and City Planning and presently is a candidate for a M.P.A from Rutgers University. She has served as Manager of Comprehensive Planning for the City of East Orange and possesses both a New Jersey Professional Planning License (P.P.) and is a certified member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (A.I.C.P.). She is also a professional member of the New Jersey Municipal Management Association.
