Hole in the Wall

PERTH AMBOY – Motorists have been using the semicircle created in this wall underneath the railroad for years. This road has been a shortcut to go between State Street and Amboy Avenue. The Hole in the Wall can only accommodate one vehicle at a time to pass through.

Now it is the subject of closure to accommodate Buckeye Industries who are building on the adjacent property.

I could not tell from the article wether the proposed closing is temporary while Buckeye Industries is building on the adjacent property or if the closure is permanent.
Recently there was an article in the Guardian about the city creating bike lanes to assist residents connecting with mass transit and access to the downtown shopping.

A road is a terrible thing to waste: could the hole in the wall on Maurer road spark interest in the bike lanes ? Just look at the photos.

Looks like this is a permenant closure of this roadway, too bad public acess by walking or biking should be upheld and this looks like a land grab by Buckeye…………besides the stink we used to zoom thru the road with windows up and A/C on full blast!
