Statement of Middlesex County Democratic Chairman McCabe on the Passing of Jim Phillips

OLD BRIDGE – The Middlesex County Democratic Organization mourns the passing of former Middlesex County Freeholder and Old Bridge Mayor James T. Phillips. Mayor Phillips, who also served as a member of the New Jersey State Senate and Middlesex County Treasurer, epitomized public service with a relentless focus on improving the quality of life of his constituents.

“It is sad day for Middlesex County with the passing of such a faithful public servant,” said Middlesex County Democratic Chairman Kevin P. McCabe. “Mayor Phillips was a tireless champion of preserving open space and ensuring that residents throughout the county can enjoy the beautiful parks that are such a defining characteristic of our communities. The thoughts of the Middlesex County Democratic family are with his wife, Janet, and his children, Jennifer, Joanne and Jimmy and grandchildren during this difficult time.”

Among Mayor Phillips’ accomplishments include the creation of the Middlesex County Old Bridge Waterfront Park, John A. Phillips Open Space Preserve and Peter A. Mannino Park.
