PERTH AMBOY – On the agenda for the 2/10/14 Caucus Meeting, there were questions about bids received for the cleaning and lining of various sewer mains. Seven Companies were listed. What was questionable is that of the seven listed only one (Allstate Power Vac, Inc.) had an actual dollar amount. The other six companies simply stated: “No bid.”

Business Administrator Greg Fehrenbach said, “Sometimes a business when reviewing the specifications for the project, may not be able to conform or the time line is not feasible. This could be because of obligations to other projects. When this happens, they will simply return the application with a simple no bid.”

Former Councilman Fernando Gonzalez said, “When I was on the Council, my concern was that not enough contracts were given to minorities. I’m asking that you set aside a certain amount of bids for minorities. The Federal Government allows this.”
