PERTH AMBOY – Black History Month was celebrated on Wednesday, February 26, at the Senior Center, Olive Street. The theme was: Two Generations – One Story.
The City of Perth Amboy, The Office on Aging and the Perth Amboy NAACP headed by Rev. Milton Lester joined together to present this program.
The two generations included a poetry reading by Joshua Bishop, who is a student from the Academy of Urban Leadership, Perth Amboy and Shirley Woods who is a Deacon from the New Hope Baptist Church, Metuchen, New Jersey.

Music, poetry and soul food were enjoyed by all in attendance. One of the highlights was a Collard Greens Cook-off where prizes were awarded.
This program concluded the official Black History Month that is celebrated in February.
The Kearny Cottage, which postponed their February event, will be holding their celebration on April 13.
