“Son of God” is a new theatrical release, largely comprised from footage filmed for the Mark Burnett (of Survivor fame) produced miniseries “The Bible,” which aired on the History Channel. This movie is a straightforward telling of Jesus’ birth, ministry, miracles, trial and eventually crucifixion and resurrection.

The movie features a good cast, including Greg Hicks as Pontius Pilate. Diogo Morgado plays Jesus well, but he may not be what some Christians envision when thinking of the son of God. This interpretation is well done and is an accurate and compelling telling of the stories from the bible.

Thankfully the movie doesn’t focus on the brutality of Jesus final days, as “Passion of the Christ” did. It is well worth seeing as we enter into the Easter season.
