PERTH AMBOY – Dr. Vivian Rodriguez gave a slide show presentation to explain how students can recover credits that are needed to graduate.

Recommendations were made by Dr. William Librera from a study he conducted. This study was made available in August 2012. The independent review dealt with student information procedures for Perth Amboy.

1.) The Board of Education should establish a four year policy beginning with the incoming 9th Graders that establishes what the district will do to provide opportunities for students to recover credits.

2.) The criteria and where the options may exist should be placed clearly in the student and parent/guardian manual along with the policy that the Board of Education has in place.

The law is: In N.J.A.C. 6A:8-5.1(A2ii) District boards of education shall establish a process for granting of credits through successful completion of assessments that verify student achievement in meeting or exceeding the CCCS at the high school level, including standards achieved by means of the individualized student learning opportunities.
