PERTH AMBOY – 4/23/14 Council Meeting – Although the BID finally hired an attorney,  which Board Member, Virginia Lugo has been  requesting for some time, there are issues that still have still not been settled.

Resident Alan Silber went to the last Board Meeting where the newly appointed attorney, Daniel R. Guadalupe of the Law Firm of Noris, Mclaughlin & Marcus was present.

Silber said, “Board Member Lugo was right when she complained.” He noted, “It’s been 14 years since the BID filed an annual report. Members are not supposed to be appointed by the Mayor but the BID members themselves. The Chair and one other BID member did not like the lawyer giving a legal opinion.”

BID member Virginia Lugo said, “In November of 2008 we had a special meeting, and we have been Board of Directors. We were told we had to give part of the money we collect to the City. I asked Mr. Fehrenbach (the B.A.) for our contract and he said we were an Advisory Board.”

At the 4/23/14 Board Meeting, Mayor Diaz commented, “I’m happy that the BID attorney is doing research and preparing a report to give to our members and the Council. The lawyer said the Council has to approve all monies. I’m sure the BID report submitted by the attorney will be positive.”
