PERTH AMBOY – 5/14/14 City Council Meeting: Residents were still talking about the lack of meetings being broadcast on PA-TV.

Resident  Stanley Sierakowski said, “It should be the Council who should decide what municipal meetings should be shown. You should assert your leadership in this matter.”

Resident Alan Silber told the Council, “You have equal authority with the Mayor to put these meetings back on television.” He read the ordinance backing up that statement. Ordinance (1639-2012) was accepted May 16, 2012; adopted May 30, 2012 and published in a daily newspaper June 5, 2012. See ordinance on right.

Silber questioned why the Council Meeting of 4/23/14 was edited. Some speakers were excluded on the television broadcast that spoke at that meeting.

Council President Joel Pabon made a statement at the 5/12/14 Caucus Meeting: “We need to make a policy to televise all meetings. We need transparency. A decision has to be made.”

B.A. Greg Fehrenbach replied to Pabon, “You need to talk to the Mayor.”
Editor’s Note: As of 5/16/14 the 4/23/14 City Council Meeting, broadcast on Comcast 34/Fios 47, did have the three speakers who had been edited out when it was originally broadcast.
