COMMUNITY VOICE: Endorsement for Fred Henry

Primary day of June 3rd is almost here!  Mayor Fred Henry is running for re-election in South Amboy.  Mayor Henry has a great record to run on. Present Democratic Party Chairman O’Leary should have been proud to support Mayor Henry with his re-election.

Over the last 3 years the accomplishments of Mayor Henry are as follows:

  • Mayor Henry lowered the operating budget nearly $700,000.00.
  • In 2014 for the first time in 10 years South Amboy has a surplus of over $500,000.
  • Mayor Henry received over $1.8 million dollars in grant money to improve the infrastructure of South Amboy.
  • Mayor Henry is waiting for the final approval from the DOT on policies and procedures to start construction for the ferry to NYC.
  • Mayor Henry has through a vigorous new business campaign brought in so far 15 new businesses to South Amboy.

With a new vision for South Amboy the Henry business plan will attract many more new businesses to Broadway.  We have 2 new major businesses already, Dunkin Donuts and Subway.  Mayor Henry wants to revitalize Broadway into a booming shopping district with many stores in which to shop,  along with fine eateries.

Mayor Henry has learned from Hurricane Sandy the need for more emergency services to be in place.  Many improvements have been made under the leadership of Mayor Henry.  Working with our police and emergency management departments, Mayor Henry had Nixle and reverse 911 installed.  He has gone to Trenton and has attended many conferences on upgrading emergency services for our residents.

Some say he should have done more; give him another 4 years and he will.  The record Mayor Henry has so far is excellent and unblemished. Mayor Henry does not look for pats on the back nor does he look for streets to be named after him.  That honor Mayor Henry states  is “That the honor should be reserved for fallen veterans,” which Mayor Henry is naming the new roads by the YMCA for.

The fact is Chairman O’Leary is working hard to push Mayor Henry out and is spending a lot of money in the process.

Mayor Henry knows his opponent John O’Connell and he said, “He is an outstanding asset to our military.”

When John was a member on our Redevelopment Agency he had to leave because he was called back to duty,  and  again when he was elected as Councilman, John had to step down to return to duty.  What will happen if John is called back to duty if he is elected mayor?  He will have to resign and heed to the call from his country.  Ask yourself, who will be mayor then, ex-mayor present Democratic Chairman O’Leary?  Let’s not find out what will happen,  this election is very important to all the residents of South Amboy.

ON JUNE 3rd VOTE  FOR THE RE-ELECTION OF MAYOR FRED HENRY LINE B!
