Saturday June 14, – 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. What You Should Know about the VA Health Care System. The seminar will be held in conjunction with the Veterans’ Administration Health Care Community Outreach Team. All Veterans and their families are encouraged to attend. Veterans seeking information on how to enroll in the VA health care system should bring a copy of their DD214 separation papers to the seminar. A 45-minute presentation regarding health care eligibility and benefits will be followed by a Q&A session with VA staff. Information about non-health related benefits including home loans, life insurance, filing disability claim and death and burial benefits will be covered. The VA mobile health unit will be on sire for brief health care assessments and patient education. This program is free to the public as a service provided by the Outreach Team.

Saturday, September 27 – 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. 3rd Annual Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show. Presented by the Vietnam Veterans of America New Jersey State Council. A fun-filled day featuring DJ entertainment, vendors, food and vehicle displays at the PNC Bank Arts Center Parking Lot, Exit 116 off the Garden State Parkway. (Rain or Shine) All registration fees go directly to support the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial and the Vietnam Era Museum & Educational Center. $20 donation to register vehicle, $5 donation per spectator, Children under 12 are free. Sunday, September 28 – 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. – NJ Run for the Fallen. One Mile – One Flag – One Hero, September 27-29, 2013. In an apolitical reflection of remembrance a team of active duty military personnel from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and other bases across the country will come together to embark on a 186 mile run that honors every NJ service member killed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, New Dawn and all Wars and Conflicts. Each mile is dedicated to a NJ Hero and their family. The run team will stop at each Hero Marker presenting a flag and personalized biography to waiting loved ones and comrades. A 186 mile memorial trail will be created across NJ. “NJ Run for the Fallen” will kick off Friday, September 26th at 8:00 am from the Cape May Lighthouse. The Run will end at the NJ Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial (exit 116 off the Garden State Parkway) on National Gold Star Family Day, Sunday, September 28th.
