Look Elsewhere For High School
PERTH AMBOY – 8/11/14 – Caucus Meeting Communication #21. Middlesex County Planning Board supporting the City’s application to Green Acres Program for funds to develop a park on City owned property along the Raritan River adjacent to the Victory Bridge.
Resident Stanley Sierakowski wanted to know if the 5 acres for the park was contaminated, “The Council needs to get more information about this land to check for any possible contaminants. You should table this before you approve this.”

Senior Planner with the City of Perth Amboy Office of Economic and Community Development, Annie Hindenlang answered the concerns of Sierakowksi about this property. She said, “This property which is located near the Victory Bridge is City owned. We did environmental investigations. It is not part of any discussion related to the High School.”
Business Administrator Jillian Barrick talked about the 50 acre Celotex property, “We are looking to make this into a retail/commercial area. There are RFP’s (Request For Proposals) going out tomorrow (8/12/14). I talked to the Board of Education Jess about other options to build a High School. The Celotex property is off the table.”
