PERTH AMBOY – Perth Amboy Council members Joel Pabon, Sr., William Petrick and Sergio Diaz submitted over 1,650 petitions to the municipal clerk on Aug. 26 in order to run in this November’s council elections.

In a show of their electoral strength, the number of petitions far exceeded the 245 necessary for each candidate to file.

“We are encouraged by the hundreds of people who signed our petitions because they believe in our record of fiscal responsibility, increased public safety and access to quality healthcare for all Perth Amboy residents,” said Council President Pabon.  “This outpouring of support clearly demonstrates that our policies have been effective and productive for our city.”

“Under our leadership, Perth Amboy has seen a drastic reduction in municipal debt, a double-digit drop in crime in the last year alone and a successful campaign to improve wellness and healthcare for our constituents. We are proud to run on our record of improving the quality of life across the City of Perth Amboy,” said Councilman Petrick.

“I am proud to join with Mayor Diaz and my running mates to continue to move the city forward. In just a few short years, this team has turned around our city, improved its bond rating twice and kept Perth Amboy safe by hiring both police and fire department personnel – all while reducing debt by over $51 million,” said Council candidate Diaz.

The non-partisan municipal election will be held on November 4.
