We Remember 9-11-01: Sayreville & Woodbridge

SAYREVILLE – Sayreville held their 9-11-01 Memorial services on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at 6 p.m. at Burke’s Park. Those participating included: Mayor Kennedy O’Brien, Police and Fire Departments and Clergy. Also in attendance were Veteran Organizations, members of the military, Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, family members of those who perished on that day, local politicians, and residents. The ceremony concluded with a single bagpiper playing the song “Going Home.”

WOODBRIDGE – “A Township Remembers” Woodbridge held an interfaith service on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 6 p.m. Mayor John McCormac started the evening with a 9-11-01 remembrance. Rev. James F. Thomas was the Master of Ceremonies. Those participating included: Clergy from many different faiths. The Woodbridge High School Choir under the direction of Elizabeth Amory sang “God Bless America,” and “This is My Song.” There was a staring performance of “Amazing Grace” performed by WHS with a solo vocal by student, Roy Demarco. Bagpiper Paul Delco performed along with the choir. Councilwoman Debbie Meehan did the roll call of those who perished from Woodbridge on that day. There was a presentation of colors by Thaddeus M. Nulty American Legion of Iselin Post 471. Representatives from the Police and Fire Departments, the City Council and local politicians and residents from all Woodbridge Township Municipalities participated in the services.
