St. Joseph H.S. Second Annual 5K Run/Walk, Sept. 28

METUCHEN- St. Joseph High School, Metuchen, will host the 2nd Annual Katch A Kure, a 5K Run/Walk, on Sunday, September 28, 2014 starting at 8:30 AM at St. Joseph High School, 145 Plainfield Avenue in Metuchen, NJ 08840. Proceeds will support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital which advances cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment.

The event is organized by the Social Action class and its teacher, Dr. Adele Ellis, at Saint Joseph High School. Social Action is a senior religion course. The course is set to provide opportunities for seniors to serve the needs of the community and provide themselves with an experience that will expand their human understanding, social compassion, individual responsibility and self-confidence.

Currently, there are over 80 students/members of the St. Joe’s community registered and the initiative has already raised over $2,000.

Registration for Katch A Kure is $25. The race will be timed by CompuScore and t-shirts with the Katch A Kure logo, created by Ms. Canciello, the school’s art teacher, as well as a commemorative gold wristband will be given to the first 300 runners/walkers signed up.
