Letter to the Editor: How Many Will it Take?

My Father was from Perth Amboy and my Mother from South Amboy so I remember sitting in the backseat of our Old Ford and crossing the Victory Bridge many times. It was a drawbridge back then. We had to stop sometimes to let a boat or ship go through. My older brother and his friends used to fish and catch crabs near the bridge. (Just want5ed to give some of the younger readers some background.)

I will enclose an article that I wrote on October 1, 2008. You did not misread the date. Yes, my friends, the NJ Dept. of Transportation built a beauty. Has 110 high foot span and the flow of traffic is like the speed of sound (zoom-zoom).

We can spend millions or billions of dollars somewhere else in New Jersey so let’s put some kind of barrier or fencing up.

Could it be done? Has it been done? Will it ever be done?

After 6 years I still ask the same question: How many more deaths before we do something about it?
