PERTH AMBOY – At the 1/7/15 BOE Meeting, newly elected Board Members were sworn in. In the election, Milady Tejeda was the top vote-getter with 2378 votes; Jose Rodriguez was second with 2369 votes and Manuel Nunez came in third with 1971 votes. Tejeda was elected to a second term as a BOE Member. Nunez and Rodriguez were elected for the first time. The Members were sworn in by Board Secretary Derek Jess.
Each newly elected BOE Member offered a few words.
Jose Rodriguez said, “I am pleased to be a part of the Board of Education.”
Manuel Nunez thanked God and everyone: “No person can resolve; my goal is service.”
Milady Tejeda thanked God, her family and the voters, “The education of future leaders is important. I care about the future of our City. The most important decision is to build a new High School.”
When it came time to elect a president, Jose Rodriguez nominated Sam Lebreault. The motion was seconded by Israel Varela. Lebreault was elected unanimously. Board Member Ken Puccio nominated Israel Varela as Vice-President; it was seconded by Obi Gonzalez. Varela was elected Vice-President with one “no” vote from Board Member William Ortiz.
