PERTH AMBOY – Congressman Frank Pallone endorsed Mayor Wilda Diaz citing her record on redevelopment, fiscal responsibility and putting Perth Amboy first. He also praised Mayor Diaz’s acumen as a businesswomen and her use of that knowledge to promote small business development in Perth Amboy.
“Wilda is a very unique person because she always puts Perth Amboy first and a lot of times when I see other people running for state office or county office often times they are thinking about other things, they are thinking about themselves. I never get that with Wilda. I always get that she really care about this town,” said Pallone, who is also running for reelection this November. “Whether it is walking down Smith Street, or using her business acumen from so many years as a banker to try to help small businesses, or calling me to tell me she is so proud of the history of Perth Amboy, like the renovation of the library or the improvement of the train station. That is what I get. I get the felling she is proud of the city, and wants the city to progress in so many ways for the people that live here, and that she cares about them.”
“As I was driving here today I saw new businesses, buildings going up along the waterfront, all this is just about the progress of Perth Amboy, and last but not least because in many ways I think it’s the most important thing is that her background as a banker has helped in turning around the whole debt situation,” concluded Pallone.
Election Day is November 8.
