PERTH AMBOY – Ms. Claudia Houston RN, BSN, MSA is the founder and CEO of Universal Training Institute which was founded in March 2006. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing from Long Island University in 1983 and a Master’s of Science in Health Care Administration since 1989.  She is a proud mother of two beautiful children and a very very proud grandmother of six fabulous grandchildren.

Ms. Houston worked in a variety of healthcare settings from the acute care hospital to 25 years in Home Health Care.  However, in 2005 she worked in an interim Licensed Practical Nursing facility which shortly thereafter closed its doors.  It was then that she envisioned opening a school and becoming an entrepreneur and subsequently opened her own Licensed Practical Nurse on October 15, 2007. UTI is licensed by the New Jersey Board of Nursing and Accredited by a National organization based out of Washington, DC.  UTI offers Financial Aid to those who qualify and has a flexible teaching schedule which enables students to attend day or evening classes.

The school has graduated hundreds of students who successfully pass the State Licensing Examination with impressive scores, who now work throughout the healthcare continuum. Many graduates have also continued their education to become Registered Nurses who spread their talents throughout New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.

Ms. Houston’s passion to transform the lives of students is a dream fulfilled. As she so aptly states in her school’s Motto, “Universal Training Institute is a place where everyone is a “Star”. Those of us fortunate enough to work under her tutelage can honestly say that she has been our “Shining Star.
