Another contributor to the Amboy Guardian has left us too soon. He now joins Peter Book a.k.a. Pedro Libro, and Thomas Francis Clark who were prolific letter-writers or submitted poetry.
Dioris was a classmate and friend of Stanley Jaremczak a.k.a. the Garden Guru who passed away a short time ago. Dioris immortalized Stanley in the poem titled: “Garden Guru.”
In the letter section of the paper, Attorney Eralides E. Cabrera talked about how Louis captured the essence of well-known characters of Perth Amboy and gave them the recognition that they deserved. Some of Dioris’ poems appeared in some of Cabrera’s books.
We wish to add that Dioris was very astute in capturing the beauty that is nature, be it land, sea or sky. He would take a butterfly or other insects and the way he would describe them would be as if they were humans. He also loved to write poetry about family and friends. He was proud to write a poem about his daughter titled, “The Runner.”
It was not unusual for the Amboy Guardian to receive mail 2 or 3 times a week with poems written by Dioris. This was much appreciated because they dealt with such a vast variety of subjects that could be placed in the Voice of the People. Sometimes I would ask him to write a poem on a particular subject and he would always come through.
We will be showcasing his poems until the end of the year.
Here is a poem I wrote:
To Dioris Arlequin, who always shined bright, whose smile could light even the darkest of nights, whose bear-hugs were ones that were tender, yet tight.
You wrote about people that you often saw, but the person who was the most special was the person you were.
We know you are at peace with some of those that you wrote about. C.M.
Divine White Light
It comes from within, and it emanates out
It comes from the exterior and it flows in
It’s the divine white light.
Our energy force that is our connection to GOD.
The white light of peace, love, and healing
The divine white light of existence can cure you of all your maladies
Just envision yourself with the divine light enveloping you
You will glow in its brilliance
The divine white light will heal your soul
