Winter Storm Warning. Code Blue shelter open Wednesday, March 21

Alert: Winter Storm Warning in effect from 6:00 PM tonight through 2:00 AM Thursday Morning.

There is a Winter Storm Warning in effect from 6:00 PM today through 2:00 AM Thursday, March 22, 2018.  Heavy snow, strong winds, and snow accumulations between 8″ and 14″ are expected.  Be prepared for power outages and changing road conditions.

All city programming is canceled tomorrow, Wednesday, March 21, 2018.  Court offices will be open tomorrow until 12 noon.  Court sessions are canceled for tomorrow and Thursday.

Code Blue: The Office of Emergency Management has announced a “Code Blue” in the City of Perth Amboy.  A shelter has been designated for the public for tonight due to low temperatures:

The Alexander F. Jankowski Community Center, located at 1 Olive Street, will be open overnight tonight, Tuesday, March 20th from 8 PM until 7 AM

Early recycling collection:  Wednesday morning at 2:00 AM for Wednesday recycling collection.  Please be sure to place recycling out by Tuesday night.  Alternate side street sweeping canceled for the remainder of this week.

If anyone sees a person who needs help, they are urged to call the Perth Amboy Police Department at 732-442-4400.  If needed, transportation will be provided by local emergency responders.

The shelter at Olive Street is open to City residents.  This is not a County shelter.
