Downtown Clean-up

Perth Amboy Train Station 4/21/18

PERTH AMBOY – Over 80 enthusiastic and energetic volunteers recently picked up debris and trash around Perth Amboy’s train station as part of the Earth Day activities. As the annual Downtown Clean-up was winding a large group of children, teens and adults stopped by 7-Eleven convenience store near the train depot. The owner of the 7-Eleven store is Asim Malik, who serves a director on the City’s Business Improvement District (BID). He provided all the volunteers with a free Slurpee® as a thank you for helping out. Volunteers who participated include players from Perth Amboy softball teams, ROTC, youth groups from the JPI Parish, and community-based not-for-profits. BID also recognizes the community officers from Perth Amboy Police Department, Geri Barcheski of the City’s Clean Communities Coordinator, and the Department of Public Works for their assistance.
