Raise the Age for Gun
Purchasers?
A letter claimed NJ is one of the safest states as far as gun violence because of six proposed laws in the state Senate. Does that make sense?
After the passage of the 1968 Gun Control Act the number of violent firearm deaths more than doubled after 25 years. What is the real problem?
One Internet site ranked the fifty states by the rate of violent firearm deaths (suicides and murders). Massachusetts had a lower rate than New Jersey, but a higher crime rate. Does the poverty rate and population density affect these statistics?
People should look up the facts for themselves and not believe any false claims from lobbyists. “How to Lie with Statistics” explains how to decode advertising claims; there may be others.

Cost of Living
Gov. Murphy just signed off on raises for Judges, prosecutors and top political officials is excess of 15 million dollars. Meanwhile retired fire fighters and police officers who made a career risking their lives haven’t received a cost of living increase in over 5 years due to the underfunded state pension plan. The plan proposed by Gov. Murphy does nothing to resolve the problem and may make it worse. Please write your assembly members, state senator and Gov. Murphy. Tell them no more raises for top political officials until the Police and Fire pension plan is made whole and kill the current bill.
