A Musical Performance by Cathedral International and the Greater Perth Amboy Community – September 7, 2018
Press Release
PERTH AMBOY – A buzz is in town about rehearsals taking place for a popular musical coming to Perth Amboy. It’s the spectacular staging of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” This international smash hit plays one night only, Friday, September 7, 2018, 7:00 p.m. at Cathedral International, 277 Madison Ave., Perth Amboy, NJ.
The production is a reimaging of the Biblical story of Joseph, sold into slavery by his brothers after his father gave him a coat of many colors. Joseph’s gift of prophecy saves him from an uncertain fate and helps him to rescue Egypt from famine.
Often described as a high voltage extravaganza, this full-scale musical performance has a cast of singers, dancers and musicians from Cathedral International and the greater Perth Amboy community.
“We have been rehearsing since May with a multi-generational cast who are excited and ready to get on the stage,” stated Musical Director, Ted Elias.
“This show is hailed for its family-friendly storyline, universal themes, and catchy music,” said Anita Dowd, production director. “Consider bringing the entire family.”
Susan Roque is the choreographer.
“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” is presented by arrangement with the musical company, LP. Lyrics to this legendary performance were written by Tim Rice and music was created by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
