Press Release 8/31/18
PERTH AMBOY – Children, teens and adults can connect with their inner superhero by holding the controls of the Batmobile during Perth Amboy’s 12th Annual Classic Car Show. This Batmobile has been highlighted in movies, commercials and TV shows. During the show, guests can also view the incredible sedans, limousines, convertibles, station wagons, sports and muscle cars from America’s Golden Age of Automobile production.
Batman’s vehicle is just one of 200 classic American cars on display in City Hall Circle at 260 High Street. The Classic Car Show, which is presented by the City’s Business Improvement District (BID) and the Raritan Bay Cruisers, motors into the city on Saturday, September 8th and will run from noon to 4 PM.
Admission to the show is free, Children of all ages can sit in the Batmobile and connect with the power. The family dog can also hop in the vehicle, too. For more details, contact the BID’s Executive Manager Junel Hutchinson by calling 732-826-0290, ext. 4050 or 732-442-6421.
The City by the Bay’s Classic Car Show is paying tribute to magnificent, American-made automobiles. More than 15 car clubs are exhibiting a cavalcade of exceptional cars. Car buffs can see huge autos with big fins, which were inspired by the nation’s mid-century fascination with the space program. These cars, which are loaded with gleaning chrome, have luxurious interiors with couch-size front and rear seats. All are powered by gigantic engines so everyone had the raw horsepower to roar down the road.
To help recreate the cruising experience, vocalists from “Sounds of the Street” will harmonize as they sing legendary “Doo Wop” songs. Richie the DJ is also bringing and playing his huge library of classic Rock ‘n’ Roll hits by top performers from the period. In addition to all the cars and music, there will be food vendors as well as merchants selling automobile memorabilia, equipment and clothing.
The Classic Car Show concludes with Perth Amboy Mayor Wilda Diaz and members of the Raritan Bay Cruisers presenting trophies to owners of the most exceptional autos.
