Breakfast Fundraiser to Keep The Mercy House Open

PERTH AMBOY, NJ – Cathedral Community Development Corporation (CCDC) will host its first Annual Fundraiser Breakfast on October 6, from 10 a.m., at the ZPA Banquet Hall, 281 Grace Street, Perth Amboy, NJ.

The faith-based organization must raise $20,000 to keep The Mercy House open to service the local and  neighboring communities with day-to-day services, needs, and resources. At the fundraiser, the CCDC will honor “Unsung Heroes” who have been supportive of the Mercy House Food Pantry.  The Honorees are:

  • The Honorable Mayor Wilda Diaz, Perth Amboy Mayor
  • The Honorable Assemblywoman Yvonne Lopez, 19 Legislative District Representative
  • Julienne Cherry, Director of Agency Relations, Community Foodbank of New Jersey
  • Dr. Natasha James-Waldon, Director of Educational Services at the Jewish Renaissance Foundation
  • Lisa Marie Richardson, Church Administrator at Cathedral International
  • Phillip Kearney, K & S Tire Services, Owner and Operator

According to Damaris Ramirez, Program Director, “We hear from families in our communities who must choose between paying their rent, the utilities and putting food on the table.  Funding that was in place to assist families and individuals have been drastically cut or terminated, leaving many in dire need of help.”

CCDC’s Food Pantry serves over 250 families on a monthly basis. It also assist with pampers, baby products such as formula, wipes and toiletries. To find out more information and to  purchase tickets, please call Juana Kearney at (848) 250-1040.
