PERTH AMBOY – An overflow group of Latina and minority women entrepreneurs, business owners and corporate executives attended the Town Hall Business Meeting on September 20. New Jersey Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver (center of photo in pink dress) answered questions from business owners who asked about the State’s plans to raise the minimum wage, assist parents with their childcare expenses and protect undocumented workers from exploitation. Held at the Raritan Yacht Club, the meeting was presented by the City of Perth Amboy, and Mayor Wilda Diaz along with the Latinas in Business organization. The Honorable Ms. Oliver shared the Administration’s vision to actively support urban communities in the Garden State and downtown business districts. For example, the Lt. Governor explained that Perth Amboy is one of N.J’s Opportunity Zones, which were created to encourage innovation by providing resources to assist Latina, Latino, minority women and all entrepreneurs who want start and grow companies. The evening was sponsored by Comcast Spotlight, Investors Bank and the Perth Amboy Business Improvement District (BID).
